Large, deadly machines with barrels that effectively reduce the number of occupants. That's how most people imagine artillery, isn't it?
However, behind the loud defeats and artillery calculations is the coordinated work of many people and a dozen different machines. Refuelling, ammunition delivery, evacuation, household needs, etc. A lot of tasks, and they all depend on the cars and their serviceability.
Repairs are a problem that we have been facing for 11 years, from the very first day of working with Ukrainian artillery. Requests for spare parts, components, and repairs still make up about 80% of requests. What an irony: modern high-precision long-range combat units most need not super mega quads of modern gadgets, but banal unattractive spare parts.
To cope with the frantic pace of equipment operation and cover the repair needs of artillerymen, we have developed a comprehensive solution.
The mobile technical workshop and tire repair complex (mTSS) provides up to 90% of the repair needs of equipment, from combat tankers to HIMARS. Thanks to its mobility, the complex is ready to service any equipment along the entire line of deployment of the unit.
And all this - in a day, instead of weeks or months.
Unfortunately, at the moment, the state's ability to provide operational repairs and delivery of spare parts is very low. We do not know the reasons, but the consequences - simple equipment, high risks of damage by the enemy, occupiers were not killed.
These are the problems we are solving by the mobile maintenance station for artillerists.
Repair needs and tire replacement. The mTSS is a tractor with two sea containers equipped for repair and production of spare parts, and for tire fitting work of any diameter.
6 MTO blocks:
• equipment for the maintenance of equipment;
• welding;
• a unit for repairing howitzer hydraulics;
• machines and machines for manufacturing spare parts and repairs;
• tools and components;
• tire fitting;
• equipment for the operation of the MTO.
Waiting. The main task of the mTSS is to prevent the equipment from turning into a stationary target. Thanks to the powerful truck on which the complex is installed, the mTSS team can quickly reach the location of the equipment deployment. If necessary, it will tow the equipment to a safe place. The task of “arrived-repaired-left” is solved mobility, quickly, and efficiently.
Independence. The containers are equipped with power sources and can operate at any location, even if they are dismantled from the truck platform.
No. The equipment of each mTSS is completed exclusively at the brigade’s request according to needs of their armament, and the station project must be approved by the unit’s responsible officer. For example, for a howitzer brigade, the hydraulic repair unit is strengthened, and for a tracked brigade, the emphasis is on machine tools, presses, etc.
To understand the scale of repair needs, let’s calculate the average number of vehicles in an artillery unit. One division is:
+- 60 vehicles per unit.
Everyone should be on the move. The load on equipment is now crazy, and it is more economically profitable to provide mTSS to the unit than to finance repairs and supply spare parts for each individual case.
In 2023, we created the first repair complex. An analysis of the nature of requests, their frequency, and our efforts to close them showed that a mobile maintenance station would be an economically profitable project for us, and a powerful upgrade of the repair capabilities of artillery units.
By order of Reactive Post and according to our project in 2023, was produced our first repair complex, and in 2025 the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and allowed for the supply of mobile maintenance modules of Ukrainian production, which are designed to repair weapons and military equipment in field conditions. One of our achievements, which directly affects the combat capability of the army.
By May 2025, in cooperation with donors and partners, we have delivered 4 repair complexes to artillery units and are currently working on creating the 5th mTSS. You can join here.
Our main principle of work is to create assets that will benefit the military for years.
We create.
You donate.
Artillery strikes and destroys.
Friends, patrons, partners, donors, connoisseurs of effective donations and high-value destructions! As we celebrate the 11th year of the Reactive Post, we thank you for your cooperation, stability, focus, confidence, consistency, trust, and faith in Ukraine's future.
In an extended episode of the Overengineered Podcast, critical issues regarding the supply of arms to the Ukrainian army were discussed, especially in light of the potential end of supplies from the United States. Experts, including Pavlo Narozhny and Dmytro Chukanov, provided a detailed analysis of the situation concerning air defense systems, artillery, and other types of weaponry. They addressed challenges related to the supply of systems like Patriot, Iris-T, and M777, as well as the possibilities of substituting American equipment with European alternatives. The experts cautioned that the most significant difficulties might arise with high-tech air defense systems and long-range artillery, while the outlook for mortars and MLRS seems more promising. They also examined the production of ammunition, highlighting that the USA remains a crucial supplier, while European countries are only starting to ramp up their manufacturing capabilities.
